It was March 2017 when IKCO and Peugeot agreed on producing joint-venture cars, but only one car has been launched since then. Meanwhile, it’s been whispered that IKCO and Peugeot cooperation is going to end soon.
Khodrocar – over the past few days, Syria’s shattered political situation and France participation in this battle has increased concerns over Iran and France cooperation. A member of Iran’s parliament has asked to cancel all commercial relations with France specially Peugeot contract.

Mohammad Mehdi Zahedi, head of education commission of Iran’s parliament wrote on his twitter:

"All relations with France should be canceled and the government must rethink about their commercial partners. Paris has always been against Iran’s people and suspicious Peugeot contract should be canceled as soon as possible.”

Now the question is, what’s the effect of the political situation of Iran’s contracting parties in commercial relation and industrial cooperation of our country? On the other hand, how much does Iran endure international losses in the automotive industry by cancelling this contract? Because during the past time, infrastructures of producing joint venture cars between Iran and Peugeot was preparing and cancelling the contract would distrustful other countries for signing new contracts with us.

"The entry of any political tensions in the economy will lead country to lose all local and foreign investments. Political issues would have an effect on the economy, but for attracting more foreign investments, the country needs cool political atmosphere. The country is struggling with unemployment and we have to solve this problem as soon as we could.” Said Farbod Zave, an expert of the auto industry to Khodrocar reporter.

Cancelling the IKCO and Peugeot contract would have negative effects on Iran’s international figure. Meanwhile, Iran has been trying so hard to find foreign investments in different industries and countries like Italy and Korea are waiting to enter Iran’s auto industry.
