These days, with the possibility of reviving JCPOA, the whispers of the return of foreign partners and the conditions for their re-cooperation with the automotive industry have increased, and in the meantime, some believe that by implementing localization projects and reducing dependence, the automotive industry can achieve its main goal alone.
Khodrocar - The re-emergence of a foreign complaint following the US sanctions has caused the automotive industry, which has long been accustomed to assembly, to face many problems. Although there have been similar experiences in the past due to the overnight departure of these partners, but without learning from this business, the automakers resumed their cooperation with foreign partners after JCPOA, which eventually repeated itself and the domestic automakers. It sought to develop a basic mechanism to mitigate the effects of sanctions, so it began to develop component internalization projects to reduce dependency.

So far, 4 internalization tables have been held and the fifth table is waiting for the approval of the Ministry of Industry, but a look at the available statistics of these 4 tables shows that more than 340 million Euros of foreign exchange savings have been achieved so far.

Mehdi Motalebzadeh, manager of part manufacturing association, had previously stated in an interview with Khodrocar that 40% of the internalization movement's goals had been achieved, resulting in 343 million Euros in foreign exchange savings and has achieved 40% of the planned foreign exchange savings.

Explaining the rate of physical progress and currency savings in domestic tables, he said that in the first table 82% and 60%, in the second table 65% and 70%, in the third table 57% and 27% and in The fourth table was 54.5% of the number and 25% of the currency.

According to him, the holding of the fifth table is waiting for the election of the Minister of Industry, which will include 16 sets and 43 pieces, and a reduction in valuation of $ 242 million is predicted in it.

In this situation, some experts based on these statistics believe that it is time for the automotive industry to continue its work without dependence on foreign partners. These statements are made while the activists of the automotive and parts industry believe that the production volume is a specific criterion for self-sufficiency and the localization of many parts is not very economical due to the low production volume of cars. It shows that not all parts are fully self-sufficient and in general there is not going to be complete self-sufficiency in the automotive industry. Therefore, the localization of some new products and their pilot production can’t mean that the country's automotive industry does not need foreign cooperation.

Let's not forget that Iran's automobile and parts industry has been lagging behind the world technology for many years, and moving on a global scale will definitely not be possible without the help of foreign companies.

On the other hand, due to the limited performance of some car manufacturers and the monopoly created, the country's car market is limited and there is no diverse product portfolio in the country because foreign companies have not operated independently in Iran in recent years and this trend has made it competitive. Do not create in the automotive industry. In this exclusive space, the customer does not have much choice and due to the weakness of competition, a good prospect of quality improvement is inconceivable.

Accordingly, the unwillingness to cooperate with foreign companies, even after the lifting of sanctions and the revival of JCPOA, has only led to the strengthening of the monopoly, and ultimately customers will be the main victims of this game.
