In the construction government, the government board issued a permit for the restricted import of cars in order to earn money and compensate for the market shortage.
Khodrocar - During this period, a number of cars from European and Japanese brands entered the country, which due to the above, met only the needs of the affluent class of society. Daewoo Company, as the first Korean company in this period, entered the Iranian market widely. A group of government managers in Kerman province established a charitable organization called Molly Al-Muwahhidin to eliminate deprivation and create jobs in Kerman province, which invested heavily in various economic sectors.

One of these sectors was automobile manufacturing and this institute established a company called Kerman Automotive Industries. This company started its work with the extensive import of Daewoo vehicles. During this period, two models, Racer and Spro, arrived in Iran, which were well received by consumers. Perhaps it is safe to say that Daewoo cars in Iran were the most successful imported cars at that time.

Given the liberalization of car imports to South Korea, Korean companies were well aware that if they could not market a variety of models, they might even lose domestic markets.

During this period, they designed and produced a variety of models using the older platforms of Japanese and American companies to empower their product portfolio.

Hyundai has launched a small sedan called the Elantra, which is based on the Mitsubishi Lancer platform. The car was selected as Australia's top car in 1993 a year later.

Hyundai also introduced a coupe model called the Scope. Daewoo also introduced several new cars, some of which, including the Daewoo Prince and Daewoo Brugm, were based on General Motors platforms and therefore had large sizes and many design features. Along with this large car, Daewoo also launched a small hatchback called the Nico Tico, which was based on the Suzuki Alto platform.

Kia Motor also launched the Bongo and Van Besta trucks. Kia launched in the UK this year, selling 1,800 Prides in its first year.

Simultaneously with Korea, new cars entered the Iranian market and Iran Khodro was able to successfully produce Peykan without the British company Talbot.

On the other hand, with the solution of the political problems surrounding the production of Peugeot 405, this car also entered the production cycle. From the beginning, this car was produced in two models, GL and GLX.

Saipa Company also agreed with Renault to produce a large sedan model of this company called Renault 21 in full CKD form in Iran.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Heavy Industries was looking for a roadmap for the country's automobile industry. In this regard, the government took the automobile law to the Islamic Consultative Assembly and this law was approved by the deputies. According to the law, the car import tariff was set at 170 percent, and it was decided to gradually reduce this tariff, and during this period, domestic automakers should prepare themselves to compete with foreign cars.

Despite all its weaknesses, the passage of the Automobile Law was the first roadmap in the country to be exactly the same as what South Korea did 40 years ago, but the difference between Iran and South Korea was that in South Korea there were private car companies and the government was strong. He implemented his plan for the car industry, but in Iran, the car manufacturers were state-owned and pressured the government to do something, which stopped the implementation of the car law after a while, and the terms and conditions changed according to the wishes of the car companies.

During the announcement of the car law, some investors pursued the idea of setting up car assembly plants, one of which was the Foundation for the Underprivileged and Veterans, which was able to obtain the approval of the German company Benz to produce its products in Iran.

With this issue raised, protests against the contract began because the Veterans Foundation was a government agency.

At the same time, Saipa also had a problem with Renault. Saipa, which was still assembling the Renault 5 and was about to start production of the Renault 21, was suddenly faced with an increase in the CKD price of Renault products.

Saipa first transferred the Renault 5 production line to one of its subsidiaries and then to Pars Khodro, but this line did not last long in Pars Khodro.

Saipa was looking for a cheap hatchback to replace the Renault 5 and negotiated with several foreign companies. Finally, Saipa agreed with Kia Motor to produce Pride in Iran so that Saipa could produce Pride in two hatchback models. And the cashier should start in full CKD.

The contract between Saipa and Kia Motor allowed the internalization of Pride, and Saipa was hard at work seeking self-sufficiency from Kia Motor to produce Pride.

The localization of Pride parts in Saipa and Peugeot 405 in Iran Khodro was an opportunity for Iranian parts manufacturers to strengthen themselves in this direction.
