Concerns have been raised about carmakers not paying attention to contracts with parts manufacturers to require the purchase of domestic parts, with activists saying the lack of an engineering framework in these contracts is a major challenge.
Khodrocar - According to Soheil Memarbashi, Director General of Transportation Industries of the Ministry of Industry, the contracts of automakers will be monitored every three months by receiving reports from parts manufacturers by the Ministry of Industry with the aim of monitoring and organizing the process of deepening domestic production and supporting parts manufacturing units.

He stressed that so far no report on the status of carmakers' purchases has been received from contractors based on the IPI booklet, but from now on, carmakers are required to submit purchase reports based on production circulation and this booklet every three months and earn Approved by the inspectors of the Ministry of Industry.

Meanwhile, although carmakers consider themselves obliged to buy Iranian products, parts manufacturers these days more than ever express their concern about not buying domestic parts at the same time as the lifting of sanctions.

"The manner of analyzing the contract and the provisions contained in it have always been objected to by the parts manufacturers, and like the issue of car pricing, which has been discussed for more than 10 years, it has not been amended yet." Reza Rezaei, an expert of part industry told.

"If the component maker had been completely unprofitable to date, it certainly would not have survived, despite all the emphasis on contract modification to date, we have not been able to achieve a contract engineering framework. Eventually we will reach a swing agreement, but what is certain is that the component makers have reached the current level with the least support.” He said.

"The conditions of component makers should not be much different from their competitors in the world, but to date, the basic framework for component manufacturers' contracts and their support has not been defined.” He mentioned.

"It has been heard that this figure will increase to 22,000 Tomans, and now this issue has been defined in a model that has been agreed upon by the two automakers.” He said.

"For each month, a foreign exchange price is considered as an average and the quarterly average foreign exchange price is to be taken based on domestic formulas.” He said.

"The supply chain is currently gradually submitting its requests, and accordingly, all contracts will soon be amended on account.” He added.

"In practice, however, this happens once every six months, and although this reform is done in agreement with the component makers and according to the dollar exchange rate, the costs and its increase are not considered in the contracts.” He said.

"The revised prices are for the first six months of 1998, while the review of prices from the end of September last year until today shows an increase of more than 50% in costs.” He said.

"There is still no price ceiling for parts because module by module and piece by piece, the costs and effects of currency prices on them are different.” He continued. "Although most contracts have been updated so far, no specific method has been set, so there is no law in this regard.”
