According to statistics provided by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade, 72,197 light and heavy commercial products were produced last year by private traders, as well as companies affiliated with semi-state automakers, indicating a 14.5 percent increase in commercial production compared to 1397.
Statistics show that by the end of 1398, 3,251 types of trucks, vans and trucks have been produced in the country, which has decreased by more than 67% compared to the previous year, so that Iran-Khodro has produced 1,216 units. It represents a 3.8 percent decrease in circulation, and Saipa has produced only 738 units of this model of commercial vehicle in recent years, which is a 80 percent decrease compared to 1397.

The decline in commercial production last year came as the commercial fleet was scheduled to be modernized within three years, while the first modernization of the fleet was fully described in March 2017 by the First Vice President. According to the plans, this project was supposed to start in 1397 and be completed within three years from that date and will be completed by the end of 1399, according to which 202 thousand worn-out heavy and semi-heavy vehicles will be removed from the roads. The standard should enter the country's fleet.
However, after a long period of time due to sanctions and the withdrawal of foreign partners, the project did not enter the implementation phase and its implementation has been assigned to the next three years, while if the renovation with codified programs began in early 1397, today about Half of it was completed, and at least 100,000 heavy vehicles were renovated about two years after the project was launched.
Now, with the planning of the Ministry of Silence to increase the production of commercial vehicles and also to predict the supply of 12,000 units of commercial and heavy vehicles by Iran Khodro this year and to reach 23,000 units in 1400, it seems that the fleet will be modernized.
Trading will be pursued more seriously this year. Meanwhile, with the signing of a memorandum of understanding and agreement with the operators and the payment of the initial amount of the contract for injection to the supply network, the production program of commercial and heavy vehicles will be more orderly and uniform, and Iran Khodro Diesel will be ready for implementation. Renovation of the public transport fleet has been announced.
