After Peugeot activity suspended in Iran, they are going to return to USA after many years. However, Peugeot return will happen in 2020 but their announcement in the current situation of Iran is a bit weird.
Khodrocar – While Iran’s auto industry is getting closer to new sanctions and commercial partners are leaving the country, Peugeot announced to return to USA.
According to the news, PSA is planning to establish its representatives in 15 states as a start of returning. However, they are planning to do some activity in the field of electric vehicles but announcing this news in the current situation is a little bit illogical. Last presence of Peugeot in USA returns to 1991. On the other hand, Peugeot wants to sync its vehicles with the America’s standard.
Last September, Carlos Tabares announced that they are considering a little group for analyzing the USA market for returning. At that time, media said that Peugeot doesn’t consider returning very soon but they are expanding their market in Africa, Latin America, India and Iran. Now, it seems Trump’s decision is affecting the future of Peugeot to leave Iran and continue its activity in USA.

"These two are not separate but they are not related at all. However negotiations with USA started long time ago but the result of these behaviors is not clear right now. The interesting point is Peugeot had this king behavior with Iran before unless they have to pay a lot of compensation this time.” Amir Hosein Kakaei, an expert of auto industry told khodrocar reporter.

"I’m sure Peugeot won’t like to leave Iran but they forced to leave our country because of international pressure. Some societies are coward in the business and they are looking for their profit instead of risking. Of course most of European countries are having such a behavior against America.” He added.
"Peugeot has showed that they are thinking about their own profit instead of anything else. The reality is America has more power than other countries so they can force countries and companies as they want. Meanwhile, Chinese are continuing their activity in Iran but America may force them to leave Iran too.” He said.
"It seems that European can find a way for continuing their cooperation with Iran for long term condition. Both Renault and Peugeot are willing to stay in Iran but at last they both will leave the country. America’s pressure will start in 2 weeks.” He added.
Now there is only 2 weeks left till the start of sanctions and since one month ago a part of hard sanctions had started so Iran’s auto industry partners are leaving our field that leader of them is Peugeot from France.
