Peugeot has issued a pair of recall notices for the 4008 SUV, over concerns certain vehicles could be fitted with faulty door locks.
Khodrocar - The first recall relates to vehicles that could have all four locks affected, while the second is for right-hand locks only, though the condition is the same regardless.
According to the French manufacturer, the locks – be it all four or just the right-hand pair – may not be to specifications. If the condition occurs, the internal mechanism of one or more locks may jam, preventing one or more doors from closing or result in an "unexpected unlocking and opening”.
Peugeot says the fault could result in an injury to the vehicle’s occupants and/or other road users.
Peugeot 4008 vehicles affected by the right-side door recall were sold from 1 October 2015 through 31 December 2015, while vehicles that could have faulty locks on all doors were sold from 1 May 2015 through 30 October 2015.
Regardless of the condition, owners of the recalled SUVs will be contacted by Peugeot Australia, and will be advised to present their 4008 to their local dealer to have the faulty door locks replaced.
It’s unknown at this stage whether the related Citroen C4 Aircross is affected by the same fault, though the Mitsubishi ASX was recalled for a similar issue this time last year.
