The ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade is emphasizing on foreign investment in the auto industry, but on the other hand, making wrong and sudden decisions like shut down SABTARESH website is sending negative signals to foreign investors and make them runaway.
Khodrocar – according to the deputy minister of Industry, Mine and Trade in industry affairs, Volkswagen and Mammut agreed on starting production with 30 percent of localized products but Volkswagen vision was importing vehicles to recognize the market. Meanwhile, latest problems of SABTARESH changed the vision of the German company that they might face challenges in Iran’s market.
It is obvious that SABTARESH sudden shut down without a reason frightened Volkswagen which wanted to analyze Iran’s market by importation, about Iran’s unstable economy so they are stopping the contract for now. This is happening while, Volkswagen had to invest in Iran financially and technologically.
What is the result of these kind of challenges in the bad situation of the auto industry? How Volkswagen which invested in Algeria and has production line there, could deny Iran’s potential market because of a wrong decision of the ministry of Industry, Mine and trade?
"Investors won’t have financial support if he feels uncertainness. An index of the market’s inconvenient situation is the instability of rules. Making sudden decisions to change the rules in order to control the exchange rate by a certain group of people have negative impacts on the economy and the auto industry.” Said Hasan Karimi Sanjari, an expert of the auto industry. "I’m not aware if this is the reason for Volkswagen retreat or not, but a foreign investor would retreat if he realize that a group of governmental officials could challenge the market by making a sudden decision without logical backbone.” He added.
"Presence of Volkswagen in Iran as a first class international automaker with better products than Toyota is very helpful for the whole auto industry. We have to prepare the conditions for long term and stable presence of these kinds of automakers.” Answered Sanjari to Khodrocar reporter.
"Presence of automaker should happen under a logical condition. These companies should invest in transferring platform technology, engine and auto design and also export part of their products to regional markets. By these conditions we could find the development path with the help of these major international companies.
