Last week, Hashem Yeke Zare, CEO of IKCO, complained about the difficulties of vehicle standards in Iran during the 5th Iran Automotive Industry International Conference but these complains wasn’t beneficial for him otherwise he became the victim instead.
Khodrocar – CEO of IKCO had a speech at the 5th Iran Automotive Industry International Conference and said, why vehicle standards should be too difficult in Iran that even major global automakers like Benz and Hundai couldn’t pass them? The problem should be somewhere else. After a few hours, media reflected his speech improperly and made misunderstanding.

It was obvious that he is complaining and criticizing the standard organization, but the media had a misunderstanding and didn’t reflect his speech properly.

Now, after a couple days, PSA Executive Vice-President, Africa-Middle East, Jean-Christophe Quémard talked about the Iran’s 85 new vehicle standards. "These standards are not new to us, but they are really difficult. We put the pressure on old Peugeot models which are produced in Iran to obey standards, but it is hard for some of them to pass the new laws.” He said.

Now the question is, all the critics about the standards are true or not and why the standard organization is putting obstacles against major global automakers? Iranian were always been the customers of these companies and why the standards are getting bolder suddenly for their entry?

"Standards could be successful if they set according to the conditions of the country. We are not saying that they shouldn’t be difficult, but they have to be executable.” Said Abdoallah Babaei, an expert in the auto industry. "It is better to talk about something we can do in the auto industry. We should talk and do something that automakers could be capable to do it.”

"Standards of IKCO and other local automakers are developing well, but requests are different. It seems that Mr. Yeke Zare was intended to talk about how these standards are implemented and enforced.” He added. "Developing auto industry standards is normal in the world, but it should be step by step. Also, other auto standards such as fuel should develop alongside it.”

"Talking about different requests is nice, but we should consider the condition of the industry.” Said Babaei. "Mr. Yeke Zare critics about the auto standard are right, but the media have made a misunderstanding for people.”
