Last year, managers of both major auto makers of the country told that they are going to sell their subsidiaries but they did not do anything special to sell them. According to some auto industry experts, sale of subsidiary companies and their participation with foreign investors, is the only way Iranian automakers can survive.
According to Khodrocar journalist, since the early 80’s the government was intended to reduce its volume and the subsectors by privatization of state-owned companies, so that the privatization can be executed correctly in the country. But in practice the automotive industry bypassed the privatization law with a strange and seemingly legal trick.

As the eleventh government began his duty, the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade decided to sell automakers’ subsidiary companies, so that the auto industry can survive.

For this purpose, both managers of Iran Khodro and Saipa announced that they were ready to sell their subsidiaries and tried to step in this direction.

But since last year, Iran Khodro has taken steps to transfer its shares to Parsian Bank and a part of its shares in Iran Khodro Investment Co., but and the turn has not yet been granted to any of its subsidiaries. Saipa CEO told Khodrocar: For the first time in Iran’s automobile industry, 50 percent of Saipa Kashan shares transferred to Citroen and that was a big step in this direction.

Now the main question is: Considering the loss of government automakers and their subsidiaries, can foreign investment save Iran’s automobile industry?

Amrollah Amini, automobile industry expert, said: Investment of foreign companies can save our automobile industry, because with their participation, the subsets will go out of loss and go on the boom.

He adds: On the other hand, the volume of state-owned automobile companies will be reduced by this measure and will be more easily privatized.

Although the Saipa's trial action is still unrecognizable, but considering the situation of car companies, it seems that the transfer of some of their shares to foreign investors may be a logical solution to reduce losses.
